Saving the Historic Blaine Train Depot & Making it an Official Amtrak Stop
From our Friends in Blaine who want to Save and Restore the Historical Blane Train Station into a new Amtrak Cascades stop in their city:
It seems now is the time to make your voices heard. You probably seen the recent issue of the Northern Light and it's sad slant on BNSF's desire to tear down the Historic Depot by the end of the year.

This is an outrage and we need to make our voices heard. The city does have the interests to make a stop here and need to be convinced that the historic stations remodel is the building to house the new Amtrak Depot, It just makes sense, economically and for historic reasons. It's just the right thing to do.
You can help by writing two letters, one to the Northern light supporting the remodel and saving of this historic Depot and the need for an Amtrak stop here in Blaine, The Depot needs to be remodeled, restored and used for this new Amtrak stop. Tearing it down or moving it should not be the options!
I have spoken with dozens of Canadians who would park on the Canadian side, clear customs and board the Amtrak for points south, ball games, shopping etc. This traffic alone, possibly hundreds a week, would be a real shot in the arm for the local economy, plus a very viable business for BNSF itself. I think BNSF, needs to see the real financial benefit of this action.
The economic pay back alone would help every business in the area more than you can imagine, and would tie in nicely with the downtown and Port infrastrucure improvements!
Here are the two websites you need to post your letters:
