Moscoso Named to Statewide Transportation Priorities and Needs Study Advisory Panel
Luis Moscoso, Government Affairs Director of All Aboard Washington (AAWA), has been appointed to the Advisory Panel for the Statewide Priorities and Needs Study being conducted by the Joint Transportation Committee of the Washington State Legislature.
Moscoso will be a charter member of this distinguished group of legislators, local officials, transportation executives, professional engineers, environmental advocates, union leaders, and business and economic development representatives from throughout the state. The purpose of the study is to conduct a comprehensive assessment of statewide transportation needs and priorities across all levels of government and all modes, and identify existing and potential transportation funding mechanisms to address those needs and priorities.
Moscoso said, "I am honored to lend my experience of over 30 years in public transportation and in the legislature to participate in the critical need of assessing priorities and recommending funding in the Transportation Budget. With the downturn in the state economy and drastically limited revenue, we must use this opportunity to rethink and reshape our transportation system to address the mobility needs most critical to economic recovery. A more prominent role for intercity passenger rail, including the Amtrak Cascades, will provide better mobility options in a more efficient and effective statewide transportation system accessible to all Washingtonians."
AAWA Board President Harvey Bowen added, "I’m pleased that AAWA’s recommendation of Luis to the 2020 JTC Statewide Priorities and Needs Study Advisory Panel was accepted, and we look forward to working with him and the panel to consider how our state can transform transportation in the wake of SARS-CoV-2."
